Dear HCM user Considering your age and other medical issues like hypertension, diabetes my advice for you is to first follow a good sleep hygiene. It includes a few steps like getting up an sleeping at a fixed time. doing exercises in the morning time, not taking daytime naps, not watching TV, mobile, laptops after evening, not drinking tea, coffee, colas post evening, using bed only for sleeping and not for other activities like eating, watching TV, spending an hour before sleep in relaxing activities like reading, calm music, if you dont get sleep for 15-20 minutes in bed get up and do some reading until you feel sleepy, have a glass of warm milk at nightime, showering with warm water before sleeping. I hope following these simple and doable steps you wont need medications. Also diabetes is commonly associated with depression and anxiety. If you have any such symptoms along with sleep disturbance you may need treatment for the same. Hope you can sleep well now.
