Hello
I have read your statement and i understand your concern

Adult nightmares may be due to a number of causes. The important thing here to find out the cause and treat the cause. Let me give you details

1. Certain Medications: eg antidepressants and tranquilizers such as zolpidem tartarate and BP lowering medications causes night dreams

2. Eating Habits: Eating snack too late at night gives more energy to sleeping brain thus it's overactive. certain individuals are prone to such condition after eating heavy meal late at night

3. Proper Sleep: its important that u sleep for at least 7 hour per day. because sleep deprivation may cause night dreams along with other symptoms

4. Psychiatric Disorders: Anxiety and Depression frequently causes nightmares and dreams. If u are having negative thoughts, feeling no confidence in your self and thinks everything is going the wrong way and u are feeling hopeless, then your night dreams are caused by either anxiety or depression

5.Sleep Apnea: it is a rare condition in which brain does not receive enough oxygen for its proper functioning. along with night dreams as u stated, your fellow or partner will also tell u that u snore too much at night. Also you will feel drowsy even after waking up. If this is the case, you have to consult a specialist in internal medicine who could guide to therapies such ''Positive Pressure Ventilation''

Thanks

Dr Nasir Ali
