Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath And High BP

I experience shortness of breath going up stairs and even walking across a parking lot. I am currently on 2 meds for fluid retention/high blood pressure, which controls swelling primarily in my left ankle and leg. I have had breathing tests and heart echo and all check out. I am overweight - could my weight, specifically, in stomach area, be putting pressure on my diaphragm, restricting my breathing? I regain normal breathing within 30 seconds after activity ends. Any other ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare magic. I understand your concern.
Shortness of breath with routine activities , swelling on ankles is early sign of pulmonary hypertension. It leads to narrowing of blood vessel carrying blood to heart .. causing strain to heart & shortness of breath . Your shortness of breath with riding steps is normal in a short time- 30 seconds. Don't worry, it seems to be beginning of the Pulmonary hypertension. You would be alright with proper management.

.Management is planned on following lines...
- Consultation of a cardiologist & taking medicines as advised.
- Changed life style- Eating less salt, marinated or ready made food/eat more of fruits( citrus ), vegetables & salads./ regular walking exercise & avoiding strenuous work / avoiding smoking, tobacco chewing or alcohol)/ avoiding psychological stress / try to reduce weight.
- Regular BP & physical check ups,
- Surgery is needful in some non responding patients.
Thanks
