My partner has a really sharp pain in her ear which she is finding it very difficult to sleep and is effecting her jaw and the side of her face, the pain is deep inside her ear and she has had this pain for 5 days and her GP will not give her anything for the pain? would you know what the problem is?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain pain in ear, side of face and jaw can be due to a number of causes like inner/middle ear infection, temporomandibular joint disorder, nerve damage etc.. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.. The physician can advise you to get an Otoscopic examination done along with it he can also advise you to get x ray of the jaw joint known as Orthopantomogram done to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treatment can be done accordingly.. As of now he can take painkillers like Ibuprofen along with muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxasone, do warm compresses over painful area and take a soft diet.. Hope this information helps.
