Suggest Treatment For Severe Salivary Gland Infection

I know someone who was treated last year for swollen and infected salivary glands. It got so bad there was pus coming out of the gland inside his mouth.
He ended upon ICU because he couldn't breathe his neck swelled up four times the size it should be.
He never went back to the ENT doctor that treated him last year
And this morning it started happening again. Shouldn't he go to the ER immediately

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case if the infection in the salivary glands was so severe that it caused breathing obstruction and in case if there is recurrence he should immediately and then they can give him intravenous antibiotics and steroids as well as do a culture and sensitivity testing to rule out for the exact strain of bacteria/ virus causing infection so that medication can be given to him to target the organism directly so that there is no recurrence.
He should immediately consult an Emergency room so that the conditio does not become severe like before..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
