Suggest Treatment For Severe Pneumonia

Respected Sir, my father is diagnosed with severe pneumonia and was given injection Zeanam 500mg 4 times daily for 7 days and now still his total count is 28000. Doctors have prescribed injection magnex 3 grams 3 times a day now. Sir I am very worried now. Is this the right medicines. What should I do now? Please suggest me.

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your father's situation and problem.
He is still having infection even after 7 days of injectable antibiotics. This suggest that , this antibiotic is not working.
In my opinion you should
1. Get done repeat chest x ray
2. Sputum culture and sensitivity.
Repeat chest x ray is needed to know whether pneumonia is worsening or not.
And treatment of pneumonia should be guided on causative organism. So we need to first isolate the causative organism. So get done sputum culture and sensitivity to isolate the causative organism and guiding appropriate antibiotic treatment.
Haphazard use of antibiotics should be avoided as it actually delays the recovery and increases the risk of drug resistance.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these and start appropriate antibiotic according to sensitivity report.
