This is an emergency if your sister has
shallow breathing and you should take her to the ER or the hospital immediately.
If the pain is increasing on breathing, there is either a problem of the lungs or pleura or just below the diaphragm.
Continuous pain in the region of the diaphragm according to local diagnosis has to be investigated immediately as this may need immediate intervention.
I would suggest the following in such a patient:
Admit in Emergency / ICU
Measure the SPO2, vitals.
CT scan of the chest and the abdomen to find the most probable cause of this which may be :
Liver abscess
Subdiaphragmatic collection
Plural infection and may be
Pneumonia.
The treatment will obviously be - general : Supply
oxygen, antibiotics, painkillers, intravenous fluid, and
Surgical : like
drainage of the abscess or putting a tube in the chest depending upon the diagnosis found.
