General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there,

It sounds as though you are experiencing the classical symptoms of a bladder infection. Since it has lasted for three days, I would advise you to get yourself to the local doctor's for a course of antibiotics. After confirming the infection with a quick urine dipstick test, what I would usually prescribe would be something like ciprofloxacin or amoxicillin, to complete a course of 5 days.

The other thing that would help your symptoms and speedier recovery would be urinary alkalinisers like potassium citrate or Ural. You should feel better within a day or two, and if you are not better by the third day, you probably need a repeat consult to see if an antibiotic change is warranted.

Make sure you drink enough water, at least 2 litres in a day, and don't hold your urine in. If you need to pee, just go. These two are the most important factors when it comes to developing urine infections.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Teh
