Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain After Root Canal Treatment
I have a huge toothed ache on my left side of my mouth second from the back, I've had a root canal but never a re root treatment I've had an infection for over a year and need to take it out the appointment isn't until next week. I am in agony and can't bare the pain it's affecting half my face down my neck and shoulders and arms. Painkillers aren't working and I can't sleep what can I do? Should I remove the tooth? Any tips on how to sleep or get through the night?
It looks like there is re-infection in your root canal treated tooth and possibly there is pus formation below the root tips of the tooth leading to abscess formation..
First of all get an x ray done by a Dentist to see whether the tooth can still be saved with re-root canal treatment or not. In case if the tooth can be saved then better go for re-root canal treatment..
But if the tooth cannot be saved then extraction should be done..
For now you should start taking a course of antibiotics like Augmentin [ amoxicillin + clavulanate potassium] along with pain relievers like Ibuprofen.. If pain is severe narcotic painkillers and Ketorolac can be taken..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
