Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had knee issues for awhile. I fell a couple weeks ago and it hurt for a few days but then went back to my normal pain levels. A few days ago I noticed swelling on/around my knee and some random bruises above my knee now my pain level is a lot higher, I also have pain on the back side of my knee/thigh area and there is an area on the front near my knee cap that feels like an ice cube is melting on it constantly. Does this seem like it s just healing from the fall or should I go to a doctor?
Dear patient Knee pain after trauma may be due to 1. Minor fracture 2. Ligaments injury around knee 3. Ligament and meniscus injury inside knee. Considering your case meniscus injury is more likely and only investigation which confirms it is MRI of knee . MRI gives detail information on bony as well as soft tissue abnormalities. Visit radiology center nearby you and get it done. If it's normal do not worry and start physiotherapy with quadriceps and hamstrings strengthening excersise. If report is abnormal you need to consult expert arthroscopic surgeon nearby you.
