Such incidence create some kind of bad effect on children of this age, the basic reason for this is talk of the story that proved to the child that this is true, and child believed that this is the only truth, now it is parents duty to convince the child that this is not the truth but just myth has no logic, prove this matter with different scientific examples, children convinces very easily, and there would be no problem, hope this information helps.
