Hi I was told by the er doctor that I may be suffering from TMJ due to my ear and jar pain however I have suffered from migraines for the last 5 years after a head injury in a car accident ...could it have been this the entire time? With my migraines I experience eye pain ear pain and teeth pain...but just within the last month the jaw pain started along with the ear pain . The discomfort affects my chewing yarning and and any type of strenghing of my face? I m so confused could this just be something new? Or is it possible that this is why I have been having migraines the entire time please help if you can....
A per your complain symptoms of pain in jaw and ear along with pain during chewing, yawning and any type of pressure application on face seems to be probably due to jaw joint related problem causing TMJ/TMD..
You need to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and a Panoromic x ray done under supervision of oral physician will help in ruling out the exact cause and treatment will be done accordingly..
You can be advised a combination of anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxasone.. You can be advised to wear mouthguards.. You can also be advised Physiotherapy, steroid injection and also warm or cool compresses depending on cause..
As of now take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and along with it take a soft diet and avoid excess mouth opening like during chewing, laughing, yawning etc..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
