Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a healthy 54 year old female. I walk and exercise on a regular schedule. I am 5'7" and 170lbs. We are remodeling our kitchen and ever since we started working with the drywall I have developed a cough. I have no fever, and what comes out of my nose is clear. Could this be a dust allergy??
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain the symptoms of cough that has initiated after starting with the drywall work in which there might be a lot of dust spreading in air seems to be most probably be due to dust allergies.. It can cause coughing which can get prolonged even when you are not exposed to dust.. I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and can also advise investigations like Blood tests to check for allergies and treatment can be planned accordingly.. You can be advised anti allergics like Levocetrizine or Allegra.. You can also be advised to avoid exposure to dust.. Do steam inhalation..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
