Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough Caused By Pneumonia

I have pneumonia and have had it for over 2 weeks. Ran out of my antibiotics a week ago but i am still coughing a lot and bringing up yellow phlegm and still having a hard time breathing when i walk through my house. What should i do? Go back to the er or give it time?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi. Sorry to hear about your problem. Pneumonia is a usual occurance specially during changing climate seasons. Additionally it can have after-effects (like cough or mild discomfort in chest/throat) even after the completion of antibiotic therapy. Which may last a week or so. So keeping in view these facts, my advice at the moment is to stay assured and give it some time. If you are too much bothered by the cough then you may visit your primary physician to get a prescription of some cough syrup.
Regards
