My husband has a knee injury and had been taking oxycodone for his pain. The medication has made him severely constipated to the point of severe pain. He says its like cement and is afraid of ripping something and bleeding when he pushes. Hes been taking stool softener and drinking lots of water and grapefruit juice for a week and still no change. What can we do for him for immediate relief?

I really appreciate your concern, as long as the immediate relief is concern for constipation then soap water enema is the best to try but it can be try where the stool being impacted since days, later on drink more water, have fiber containing diet, for stool softening agent Isabgol can be tried hope this information helps.
