Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Pain When Diagnosed With An Ovarian Cyst

Hi, I m pregnant and had constant bad stomach pain last week (mostly in the right lower abdomen) and was admitted to hospital. There was no bleeding, and ectopic pregnancy and appendicitis were ruled out but they found I had a very small ovarian cyst (3.7mm diameter). I m still experiencing pain on and off but it is not as bad as it was when I wnt to hospital and I am managing it with pain killers, but not taking them that much. Anyway, an ultrasound and a transvaginal ultrasound was done (4 wks, 6 days pregnant) and they found an interuterine gestational sac with no embryonic pole or yolk sac. Is this normal? When would I expect the embryonic pole or yolk sac to develop? This is my first pregnancy and I m just paranoid something is wrong because of the pains I have been getting.

Hi
Absence of fetal pole is a common ultrasound finding when it is done early in pregnancy.Fetal pole may be visible by 6 week in some women and may delay till about 9 weeks in others.Do not be scared, it is a common finding. You may do another ultrasound by 9 weeks for reassurance. Abdominal pain in early pregnancy may be caused by problems linked to the pregnancy, ovaries, digestive tract or the urinary tree.A cyst as small as your may cause pain but very less likely.I will suggest other causes of abdominal pain in early pregnancy be eliminated with some lab tests like urinalysis and stool exam. You may continue with your pain medications and if need be, add antispamodics like spasfon.
Hope my answer will help you
