Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Pain And Constipation

There are times that I get stabbing pains in my lower abdomin. I have to really watch my bowels so that I don t become constipated. So I stay pretty regular. However, sometimes when I have a bowel movement, it is excruciating pain in my rectum and intestines. I haven t had a colonoscopy for about 5 years....colon cancer runs in my family. Should I go to the hospital or just let this pass as I normally do. This only happens a few times a year.

Hi, Thinking of colon cancer runs in your family, you should under go proper screeing with stool for occult blood test and surveillance colonscopy, that will be sufficiemt. Owing to your symptoms you must undergo noninvasive radiological servey with ultrasound abdomen & pelvis, but your symptom point more towards FISSURE IN ANO, which is essentially a benign condition and can be managed easily with local GTN application and soft non-spicy diet. Just wanted to ask one question do your symptoms occur predominantly with defection.
