Suggest Treatment For Sebaceous Cyst Behind The Earlobe
My son had a sebaceous cyst - quite large one - on the back of his earlobe about 5 months ago. He was referred to our local ENT Doctor who removed it. It has since grown back and is infected again. He went back to the ENT Doctor who prescribed antibiotics and then made a follow-up appointment for a month. The doctor told him he wasn t going to remove it and also told he is at risk of them reoccurring even if removed. My son needs to get it removed because he has to wear a helmet to race at the end of the month and it is very painful. Should I be taking him to a dermatologist instead?
Hi, Recurrence of infected sebaceous is common as there are some part of sac remains causing recurrence and particularly having on ear lobe as there is very thin sac and adheres to earlobe. Consult surgeon only and discuss about this. Dermatologist has very less role in your problem. Ok and take care.
