Suggest Treatment For Sarcoidosis And Painful Rash On The Chest

Hello, I have sarcoidosis and I got a painful rash on my chest and around to my back. I looked online a think it maybe Shingles. It s painful when I inhale deeply and feels like pressure on my chest and back. What should I do? Should I go to the emergency room or wait until tomorrow morning and try to see my primary care doctor?

Hi. Welcome to HCM
From your description of the distribution of the rash, it does seem to be shingles probably. Have you had chicken pox in the past? You do not need to visit the ER immediately.
Since its affects the nerves in the area you might feel pain , pricking or burning.
you can take a pain killer for now and apply an antiseptic cream if you see any blisters. Else try a soothing calamine lotion to help the burning.
Tomorrow you can visit your doctor who can prescribe you antivirals and adjust your medicines as required given your medical condition.
The presence of sarcoidosis could have caused an immune reaction causing a shingles flare up.
It will resolve on its own in about 10 days with blisters drying up, but the medication will speed up the process and also help with your symptoms associated with shingles.
Hope this helps.
