Suggest Treatment For Runny Nose And Watery Eyes

Hi. I actually have two issues. First and foremost. I think I have allergies but cant get in to see an allergist for atleast a month. the doctor said iis likely because several people in my family do have severe allergies and get the shots and take medicine. My symptoms are itchy throat causing a cough. Stuffy runny nose draining into back of my throat, watery eyes, aches and pains, headaches, and shortness of breath as well as chest tightening. I havent been able to sleep in days! They doctor gave me a prescription for a steroid. Can you reccomend anything else over the counter that will help treat my symptoms?

Hello.

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make suggestions for you as follows:

1. As you have shortness of breath and chest tightening, I would agree with the prescription of steroid.

2. In addition, I would suggest you to take an antihistamine like levocetirizine or fexofenadine for 5 days. I would also add montelukast for 7-14 days. They will help both running nose and watery-itchy eyes.

3. For shortness of breath, I would suggest you to use inhaler salbutamol or levosalbutamol on as and when needed basis.

4. Please maintain your hydration by taking adequate amounts of liquids, preferably warm.

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish you the best of the health ahead.

Thank you & Regards.
