My son is 10 yrs old. He is having the rotten egg smelling burps, followed by severe diarrhea and throwing up. The first episode was in 2013 - he was really sick for 4 days, became so dehydrated we had to take him to the ER. I thought it was just the flu. They hooked him up to IV, fluids, did blood and urine tests and x-ray of the abdomen. They basically told me he had a bacterial infection in his intestines. Less than two months later, he started the same symptoms again, early December, again another trip to ER with same tests and their supposed same diagnosis. This morning, 2/1/14---two months again----he is starting with the burping and trowing up and I know what is to come......days of sickness and misery for him. What is going on? Does my son need a specialist?
