Suggest Treatment For Rheumatoid Arthritis

My mother in law is a 71 year old women with RA, she takes Methatrexate (sp) for her RA. Her blood platelets are 116, two months ago they were 246. The RA dr doesn t feel it is the chemotherapy drug she is taking that is causing the drop. What other medical issues could cause this drop? She has been referred to a hematologist.

I have studied your case. I think it is methotrexate which has caused drop in platelets. Other causes can be Dengue fever or ITP. It is good that your mother is taking help of a haematologist. he can check for causes by doing immune assay and also stopping MTX. Other option in Rheumatoid patients are SAAZ, HCQ, and steroids. She should also take regular calcium and vitamin D3 regularly to make bone stronger.
I hope these steps will help you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
Thanks
