Suggest Treatment For Redness On The Upper Eyelid

I have redness on the outer edge of my lower eyelid and also on the inner surface of the lower lid, some discomfort when I blink, and puffiness under the eye. A tiny bit of itchiness, but no problems with eyesight. I m not around kids and have never had pinkeye. Can I use warm compresses, or should I use cold compresses to lower the puffiness? What symptoms should send me to a doctor? Thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to health care magic...

Let me know you according to history it seems to be conjunctivitis..

The causes are.....
-viral
-Bacterial
-Allergic (to dust, pollen etc)
-irritant conjunctivitis by shampoo, soap, chemicals etc.....

So these differentiation is necessary by your examination and detail history because treatment for each case is different...

Mostly of no crust and thick discharge not present, you seems to be having allergic conjunctivitis for which antihistaminic drops can be given...

But exact treatment given only after examination...

Meanwhile avoid rubbing of eye...
Wash eye frequently with clean water....
Avoid sharing of towels and subjective things....
Keep pillow and bed clean...

For allergic inflammation cold compress applied..
For other conjunctivitis form warm compress needed

Take care

Advise : Consult nearby ophthalmologist for examination...
