Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I suggest a possibility of bacterial skin infection, probably impetigo contagiosa.
The dry yellow crust is due to dried secretions/ discharge.
The most common causative organism of impetigo contagiosa is staph. aureus.
Impetigo can spread rapidly to neighboring skin areas within a few hours.
If I was the treating doctor I would have suggested an Oral antibiotic for her.
My choice of an oral antibacterial would be either cloxacillin or cephalexin for a week.
Oral antibiotics are prescription drugs therefore I suggest that you talk to your doctor for the needful
Topically you may use an OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin ointment, twice daily for a week.

Regards
