Suggest Treatment For Red Itchy Lips

My daughter have red itchy lips, often times they swell up and peel as she scratches them. Theirs no signs of blisters, or bumps, just red. Sometimes I notice some small little bumps on them though, but nothing very noticeable, they just itch a lot. this is being going on for about year now, I took her to the dermatologist, and she didn t proscribe anything. She just told her to try an over the counter lip palm. Please give me some advice, she s 18, so the first thing that came to my head was maybe she caught an STD. Not sure what to do. thanks.

Welcome to health care magic,

The causes of red itchy of lips could be either allergic or stomatitis or traumatic (if there is history injury) or idiopathic.

Here I would like to ask some questions.
Since how many days your daughter ide having this problem?
how did it started?
are you taking any treatment?

Here,I will keep the possibility of STDs in last after ruling out all other above common possibility first.

Meanwhile, she take some over the counter drugs for symptomatic relief.

1) anti-inflammatory (ibuprofen)with serratiopeptidase to reduce inflammation and swelling.

2) Antihistamines like cetrizine (zyrtec) twice daily for 5 days.

3) vitamin b complex nutritional supplement twice daily.

Hope this will helps some relief.

If still problem persists you should see local doctor or GP to have a clear diagnosis.
