Suggest Treatment For Rectal Prolapse

My Dr. did a pelvic exam on me last Wed. I had a hysterectomy 36 yrs ago. She couldn t tell if what comes out of my vagina was my bladder or rectal prolapse, so she said she believes I have both. How can that be? Can t afford surgery or time off work, what options do I have, if any ? And what complications might I have to wait another six months ? What is bothering me now is urgency, with no results. At night I have no problems, I get up and go a few times a night. I am a cashier with lifting and bagging so during the day this is outside my vagina and makes it difficult to urinate. Thank you for any help. P.S. My primary Dr. is an internal medicine doctor. Thank you again.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query.
I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.

Try to avoid or reduce straining during a bowel movement. However, it may not be enough to correct the condition.
Ease constipation and straining by eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and other fiber-filled foods, and drinking lots of water.
Use stool softener if needed to help prevent straining during bowel movements. The treatment standard to cure the condition is surgery. Medical treatment is normally used to ease the symptoms of a prolapsed rectum temporarily or to prepare the patient for surgery. Bulking agents (such as bran or psyllium), stool softeners, and suppositories or enemas are used for these purposes.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
