Both of you could be suffering from a viral infection. It could be associated with an allergic reaction as exhibited by the rashes. But it was to be checked if the rashes are due to low platelet count. I would insist you to visit a doctor and get it evaluated.

Usually irrespective of use of antibiotics, such ailments take 5-7 days to recover. All you have to take is paracetamol to reduce fever or feverishness, as well as some antiallergic like cetirizine. Sometime, such infections can cause a drop in platelet count which could require interventions including hospitalisation, depending upon the extent.
