Suggest Treatment For Rash And Bumps On The Buttocks Of A Child

Hi,i havs atwo year old son.who has some type of rash which I thought was diaper rash so I took him to see a dr.the doctor prescribed nystatin.it has cleared up buf not really and its been almost a week.now I have noticed that he has two painful fingertip sized red bumps one on each side of his outer butt cheek.he screams everytime I touch it but it is nlt pus filled or bright colored.also his rash that I took him to the doctor for itches but hurts with diaper changes and showers.help please!

Hi...I feel by what you quote he should be having a - Hand Foot Mouth disease. This is one viral illness among all other exanthemas which can cause fever followed by rash over palms and soles. It is a self-limiting disorder and itching can be really worrisome. I suggest you use any over the counter antihistamine if you have one with you now. You can use Hydroxyzine at 1-2mg/kg/dose (Maximum 10mg) every 6th to 8th hourly for 7 days.
This can even cause some peeling of skin in the next 4-6 weeks and do not worry about it.
