Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I am suffering terrible anxiety since discontinuation of pristiq about four months ago. I suffered the physiological withdrawal symptoms for about the first three weeks. Then at about the eight week mark I started feeling a bit down.since then it has worsened over time considerably. For the last four weeks I have been suffering debilitating anxiety. Specifically, the fear and inevitability of death which is constantly on my mind. I never had any of these symptoms before taking ssris and snris. I had been on these medications for about twelve years. I do not believe these symptoms are the recurrence of the underlying issue. This is nothing like the underlying issue.
Hello, Thanks for using healthcaremagic. It seems that initially it was withdrawal symptoms but later on it is something else. Normally any withdrawal features are severe initially and as time passes they reduce in severity and may go away. However in your case as time goes you feel more problem. You are on medicines since 12 years means you are suffering from chronic psychiatric problem. So after 8 weeks features suggestive of mental health disturbance. These features of inevitable death is likely anxiety disorder. So you should consult your psychiatrist again and start the treatment. Hope I have answered your query. Regards,Dr. Chintan Solanki
