I am suffering from polymorphic light eruption for last 12 years. During this period I have tried most of the medicines. But there is no permanent remedy for this disease. Even very few seconds of sun exposure also creates itching and eruptions in the uncovered area. I am totally disappointed because of this disease. Please help me to overcome this disease. Please propose me to get alternate modern therapies
Hi. As per your case history of polymorphic light eruption, my treatment advice is - 1. Avoid sun exposure and use a good sunscreen lotion with spf more than 30. 2. Don't scratch the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 3. Take a vitamin c supplement once daily for 3 months. Repeat it every summer season. 4. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on the lesions twice daily. 5. Other treatment options are oral antoxid-hc, hydroxy chloroquine tablets, oral steroids taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
