Hello,
Thank you for your query.
A persistent lower
respiratory tract infection with symptoms would lead me to rule out
Tuberculosis.
Other causes to be ruled out are fungal infections, persistent
bronchospasm, collapsed lobe of lung.
Would you please clarify a few things for me?
- what are your current symptoms?
- what treatment were you given for
pneumonia /bronchitis?
-do you have any other medical conditions?
-what is your profession and in what kind of environment do you work in?
I would :
- get a detailed medical history
- do a thorough clinical exam with focus on your respiratory system
- get blood tests to look for any evidence of infection
- do a sputum examination for 3 samples and a culture to look for Tuberculosis bacterial and fungus.
- get a chest x-ray or a.
CT scan of the chest if indicated.
Based on the above results and findings, you may need a
bronchoscopy to confirm diagnosis and even treat a collapsed lobe.
I would need the above clarifications to advice you further.
I recommend that you see your physician to address these issues. I understand your frustration but please don't leave this unattended.
Go to a different doctor, if you have to, to get the answers.
Hope I've helped.
Wish you good health.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
