Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I HAVE PERSISTANT STOMACH ULCERS. I HAVE A LOT OF STOMACH BLEEDS. I ALREADY TAKE PUMP INHIBITORS. I HAVE MANY ENDOSCOPIES AND HAVE THE ULCERS BURNT WITH A LAZER OR GOLD PROBE. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT A STOMACH TRANSPLANT, I WAS TOLD THAT WE CAN LIVE WITOUT OUR STOMACHS SO THEY ARE NOT DOING STOMACH TRANSPLANTS YET. THIS SEEMS FAIRLY SELFISH, EXPECTING PEOPLE TO LIVE WITHOUT THEIR STOMACHS. NOT ONLY SOCIAL INCONVENIENCE BUT ALSO VITAMIN & MINERAL DEFICIENCIES, ETC. ARE THEY EVER LIKELY TO START DOING STOMACH TRANSPLANTS.? THEY MUST BE RELATIVELY SIMPLE COMPARED TO SOMETHING LIKE HEART/LUNG TRANSPLANT. MY HUSBAND HAD HIS KNEES REPLACED AND HE CAN LIVE WITHOUT KNEES.!!!! I DON T REALLY UNDERSTAND. THANK YO, .LYN
mam it is correct that there is no stomach transplant in fact we do cut out or block portions of stomach in surgery for obese there is nothing selfish about it too because there is no need to transplant the stomach we can do without it absorption of most nutrients take place in the intestine very few and in significant absorption takes place in stomach following bariatric surgery in which entails removal of a significant part of stomach no social issues arise in fact there is greater social acceptance following weight reduction also the vitamines and other nutrients can be taken care off we do understand your distress but there are other more important transplants in waiting discuss with your doctor and you can try the powder formulation of PPI blockers and sukaralfet i think in your case they will work wonders
