I am just doing some research. I have been on medication for 15 years Imuran and I have been feeling rather poorly. My dr. wants me to get labs done. I was just looking to see more about this drug.????I noticed extreme petechiae on my lower ext. this morning, and several bruises I have no idea where no got them from, unusual wt. loss, unusual tiredness more so then normal, persistent sore throat/bronchitis, abd. pain/swollen. Chest pain swollen glands. I a little scared as I have s/s of Bone marrow suppression.?? I think I will just need t sleep on this. I have no one to really confide in. Dr. is this a precursor to thrombocytopenia or lymphoma. I have a hx. of breast CA. I have Crohn s Disease. I have been on 100 mg up 200 mg of Imuran over the course of 15 years. I have been feeling poorly for a month or so now. can you help me figure this out????Are you there Dr.??????

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You have sore throat and enlarged glands with unusual weight loss and tiredness. You may have upper respiratory tract infection. It can be due to viral infection or with super added bacterial infection. Youhave multiple petechia also. So might have low platelet count. You should go for complete blood count first. If needed go for bone marrow examination. For your infection take a course of antibiotics like azithromycin, amoxiclav or levofloxacin along with antihistaminics.

Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
