Suggest Treatment For Persistent Rib Pain

Hey, I was in a car accident 4 months ago and sought examination after 2 weeks because of persistent rib pain. My physician thought that my ribs might be bruised but didn t think there was a fracture. However, it has been 4 months now and I still experience minor pain in that area, especially when I apply any sort of pressure such as leaning against something or sleeping.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear user,

Based on your introduction you have costochondritis, which is inflammation of one or more costal cartilages, characterized by local tenderness and pain of the anterior chest wall that may radiate.

If you also notice local swelling over the sternum and pain on it you may have also Tietze syndrome.

I would prescribe Advil 400mg gel capsules three times daily for pain and inflamation.

Avoid pressure on chest and cold weather.

All the best!
