Suggest Treatment For Persistent Pain In Lower Back And Pelvis

I have had moderate to severe lower left pelvic and back pain. My Dr. ordered x-rays of my lower back which did not show any abnormalities. It did show I had surgical clips in the lower left pelvic quadlant that I was not aware I had. I have also experienced left leg cramps and involuntary movement of two of my toes, that does not come with pain. I have had a complete hysteroctemy and have seen an OBGYN. MY insurance company will not pay for a MRI with 6 weeks of PT. I can t go walk around the store to buy groceries for more than 10 minutes without being in pain, much less do any PT. This has been going on for four months now, and I still have no answers.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The pain you describe may be caused by lower back osteoarthritis. X-ray may not always show this, however, it may help to eliminate the other causes of low back pain like degenerative arthritis.
Treatment options for such pain may include:
• Different lines of pain drugs depending on pain intensity
• Myorelaxants
Steroid shots occasionally
• Physiotherapy

I will advise you try the following:
• Take a pain drug like Aceclofenac
• A myorelaxant like Miorel

This may help to control your symptoms. If symptoms persist, do see the doctor for other treatment options.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mbuomboh Veranso
