Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough

my dad has exsteme caughing attacks out of no where he has had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and he was given an inhaler and medication for acid reflux none of this is working his attacks are so exstreme and can last for about 10 mins he barley can catch his breath after what is going on could it be heart related?

The most common causes for chronic cough are : (1) post nasal drip

(2) GERD (3) asthma

If he has been appropriately treated for GERD and asthma and is still having symptoms ,then you may need to consider whether it is post nasal drip.

This is actually the most common reason and some persons have a 'silent drip' where they are not aware of the drip occurring.

He may want to consider the use of a topical steroid nasal spray and oral anti histamine.
It can take 1 to 3 weeks , in some persons , for the spray to have an effect.
