Suggest Treatment For Pain, swelling And Pus Pockets In Throat

I have strep throat and the Dr. gave me a shot. This is my third day now and I have been checking my throat every day and the puss pockets in my throat have gotten bigger and there are more of them this morning. Is that suppose to happen? I am also taking Tamiflu, clarithromycin 500mg, ketorolac 10mg and hydrocodone/apap 5mg/500mg tablets. I am taking the other meds becasue the same day just later that night I have to go to the ER becasue of EXTREME body pain and shortness of breath. They said I didn't have the flu but since I had the symptoms they were going to treat me for it. My throat is so swollen I can't breath through my nose and my neck and shoulders hurt so bad I can't turn them. I don't know what is going on????

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have a severe throat infection leading to Phayngitis and Tonsillitis and the pus pockets are most probably seen due to bacterial infection..
In case if the throat is extremely swollen and tonsils are enlarged there can be difficulty in breathing and severe pain while swallowing..
The medications advised to you that are Tamiflu that is an antiviral medicine, Clarithromycin that is an antibiotic while ketorolac and Hydrocodone are painkillers and are appropriate medications to get relieved..
In case if you are not getting relieved you should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture, blood tests, Immunoglobulin G levels can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
You can be advised change in prescription antibiotics and painkillers..
Doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and using a humidifier in your room can help..
You should avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Drink plenty of warm water..
Take a soft and bland diet..
Chew Vitamin C pellets as it helps in boosting immunity..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
