Suggest Treatment For Paining Lump On Tibia

I have had a small 1cm lump on tibia 3 inches above ankle for 2 months. Xray negative. Pain started along both sides of tibia and is intermittent but wearing on me. been to internist for lump and pain. Referred to ortho but 3 week wait. Taking pain pills for aching right leg. Ideas? Also had hip and pelvis xrays for pain and they indicate arthritis, expected on 60 yr pld.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
I have studied your case and I think that it can be a lipoma or a soft tissue swelling. To confirm this diagnosis I would recommend you to get a ultrasound examination and MRI. These tests will tell us if there is any fat collection or it is a fibrous tissue collection. In both situation confirmation can be done with a needle test. ( FNAC) If it is a fat or a lymph node than you need not to be worried about this. It can be left alone.
If it is made up of fibrous tissue or nerve tissue than it will need a surgery to remove this.
I hope this answer will be helpful. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks.
