Suggest Treatment For Painful Urination Due To UTI
I have been on Cipro for 5 1/2 days for a UTI and nothing has changed. Still stinging pain during urination. My back pain has seemed to go away but that is it. I still have to urinate frequently. My general practitioner prescribed the cipro for me on Wednesday of last week. I am allergic to supha drugs, clyndomycin (sp??) and break out in a severe rash when I take them. My GP said I must be sensitive to antibiotics. My Mo is usually to break out in 5-6 days on an antibiotic so I am right of the cusp of that as well. I do have a follow up with my GP next week but so far things aren t looking so good.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Continuing symptoms of frequent and burning/ stinging sensation during urination despite taking antibiotics suggests the infectious agent resistant to effect of the antibiotic. I suggest you to get urine examination and culture with drug sensitivity. This investigation will determine the infectious agent causing the infection and the antibiotic which is most effective against the infectious agent. You need to tell your history of sulphaallergy so that these drugs are not prescribed.
Thanks and take care DR Shailja Puri
