Suggest Treatment For Painful Armpit Rash

Hello for the last month I have experienced under arm rash that can be extremely painful but smells like yeast. Also at the same time it occurs in the creases outside my vaginal area between folds of my legs and where a very old surgical scar is. I shower everyday with a natural oatmeal soap and very gently dry every area... and I put nothing on it to further irritate areas. Is thus a fungal rash that won't go away? Why both places at the same time. And why does my urine have an odor. .. it all started at same time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Yeast (fungal) infections are common in places like armpit and less aerated places like groin areas. Whenever you have such infections, the odor of urine may change. Also, in such instances, you might have associated bacterial infection as well, which would make the lesions more painful.
Hence, kindly do the following to overcome your problems.
1. Wash the area with warm water using mild antiseptic solution like Savlon twice a day to maintain good hygiene.
2. Apply after drying Ointment containing Clotrimazole with Neomycin preparation twice a day.
3. Keep the area ventilated by wearing loose fitting clothes.
Do not apply any steroid based creams. Avoid using deodorant sprays and perfumes till the lesions heal completely.
Your lesions should subside in about 3 to 5 days.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
