Suggest Treatment For Pain While Having Outbreak Of Genital Herpes
I am 52 and had my first outbreak of genital herpes about 4 years ago. It was extreme and painful. Since that time I take 1 gram of Valtrex daily and have had no more occurences. Can I reduce my dose to every other day and have it still be as effective?

I have gone through your query. If you are free of outbreaks for long time then dosage can be reduced. As you are taking one gram daily this can be reduced to 500mg daily. Consult your GP for adjusting the dosage. For immuno-competent patients only continuous prophylaxis is needed. For preventing spread of infection to the partner also it is taken daily.
