Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Left Knee And Toes

Hi,pulled something in lower back while golfing.I remember the shot I took that caused the pull.the golf ball was two feet below my stance and I swong the arms without swiveling my hips. the result is severs pain behind my left knee down to my toes with numbness on the bottom of my foot and toes.My sports physician has me on 3 cortisone steroids daily with 2 codipar pain killers every 4 hours and 2 800mg brufen tablets daily. I have this condition for the last 4 weeks with little improvement. Am I on the right track medical wise and should the pain be reducing by now. Thank you in advance for your guidance. Ged Rowlands

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for using Healthcaremagic.
Since you have little improvement after 4 weeks, I would advice you to do a MRI of lower back to rule out a herniated disc that may cause this which might need surgey. The disc is pressing the nerve and causes pain and numbenss in leg and toes.
If MRI is normal you can continue above medication and physical therapy procedures such as ultrasound.
Best regards,
Dr. Selmani
