Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am concerned about the left connective tissue between my lower lip and gum. The tissue appear to be tightening and can be painful at times when I am eating. The muscle in my left jaw appears to be losing mass; it is markedly thinner than the right side of my jaw. Additionally I am experiencing some nervous disorder in the face, particularly around my eyes and mouth. What could be the cause of this, please?
As per your complain it seems that you have an inflammation of the labial frenulum that can be due to traumatic injury with some hard food or toothbrush, it can also be due to burning with hot foods or chemicals like concentrated solutions of mouth wash etc.. Secondly thinning of muscles of one side of face along with nerve related problems can be due to Facial Nerve dysfunction that is seventh cranial nerve and supplies muscles of face.. Consult a Neurophysician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like CT SCAN, MRI etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.. As of now take Vitamin B complex supplements and do alternate warm and cool compresses over face.. The Physician will also advise you Physiotherapy along with medication.
Hope this helps..
Regards.
