Suggest Treatment For Pain In Lower Back And Tailbone After An Injury

I fell on my stairs 2 weeks ago, hit hard...tons of pain in my lower back and tailbone. Very dizzy immediately after. A few days later, pain was still bad...went to ER for X-ray. X-ray showed a sacral fracture and possible coccyx fracture. I'm still in a lot of pain and getting moderate to severe headaches. Is this just part of a slow heal process or should I consider being reevaluated??

Dear user,

I really understand your concern.

Based on your medical history for sacral fracture this is just part of slowly healing process.

I recommend you Naproxen 250 mg twice daily and Prednisone 5mg twice daily for pain and inflamation, and per protection of your stomach from this drugs Ranitidine 150 mg twice daily 30minutes before meals should be used should be.

For neuropathic pain also Amitriptyline is very effective.

Take rest enough for the first week, apply locally ice packets, avoid heavy weights and sudden moves.

After 2 months or before if the symptoms don't improve should be an imaging evaluation (x-Ray or MRI).

All the best!
