Suggest Treatment For Pain In Jaw And Neck

I have been to several doctors and dentist. I have severe strain and pain in my left jaw, neck/throat, through my shoulder, sometimes down to my fingers. I have been told it is muscle related and to take aleve for three days so that it will subside. I have had a CT scan, x-ray of sinuses all came back normal. My bite is normal and hitting where is should be. I have had a regular physical with bloodwork and all is normal. I have even tried muscle relaxants. The diagnosis I have gotten is TMD but nothing has helped the pain. Any suggestions?

Hello,
I do not see that you have been fitted with a night guard. When you feel tension and display stress related symptoms, often patients are grinding their teeth at night. An press ion is taken and a custom guard is fabricated. It is not bulky and fits over your teeth. This can break the pattern of grinding and reduce muse spasms. Try this with anti-inflammatory medication and minimize stress to the joint with a softer diet. You should continue to make sure that there are no deficiencies in your diet and bloodwork.
I refer my patients to the oral surgeon for additional studies of the TMJ including other scans and cone beam evaluation when the guard does not offer relief. You can detect joint damage, arthritic conditions or conditions requiring treatment to prevent addition excessive wear.
I hope my suggest is helpful since you have already seen other doctors and have explored some typical areas of concern related to your symptoms. Thank you for your inquiry.
