Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling Of Gums And Lips After Tooth Removal

Less than 48hrs ago I had 3 teeth extracted. 2 impacted wisdom teeth and one of my top molars. The pain is impossible. I've not slept. My tongue and lips are still swollen and my throat is really sore and tight, despite regular ibuprofen. The pain even after co-codamol 500/30 is still 8/10. I've tried both hot and cold compresses. Salty water rinse to no effect. What else can I try, I can't bare it any longer.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pain after a dental extraction is not an abnormal finding especially when you have got multiple teeth extracted..
The swelling of tongue and lip doesn't seems to be due to extraction moreover it seems to be due to side effect of some medicine preferably Antibiotics if you taking and if not it can be due to the painkiller that you are taking as it may be causing allergic reaction..

The other thing is that co-codamol contains Paracetamol and codeine and is used to treat mild to moderate pain and as you have severe pain you need to take ULTRAM [TRAMADOL] thrice a day or KETOROL DT every 4v hourly..

You should also immediately consult your dentist and get evaluated and to rule out for the cause of lip and tongue swelling which is most probably an allergic reaction for which you can take ALLEGRA 60mg twice daily for 3 days..

Hope this information helps..
