Suggest Treatment For Pain And Stiffness In Lower Leg

How do you know if you have broken a bone in the lower leg. I fell about 4 feet from a ladder, landing on my left side. My left knee and lower leg hurt some, but not much. I continued my yard work and as I did the pain and stiffness eased. As the evening as progressed, I have alternated ice and heat, keeping the leg elevated. Heat feels better. It hurt more than it did, but doesn t hurt when I am still. But stairs are a little difficult and squatting to clean a litter box, caused painful muscle spasms. Do I need to see a doctor, or can I just continue with the ice, compression, rest and elevation? R

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of muscular injury is more.
No need to worry for fracture as you can walk and bear weight.
But for 100% confirmation about fracture, you need x ray.
Since you are improving with conservative management like leg elevation, heat and ice application, no need to go to doctor.
Along with all these, also take painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
If not improving improving after 3-4 days then consult doctor.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
