Suggest Treatment For Pain And Numbness In The Leg

I have been having pain and tingling/numbness in my left leg. Sometimes the tingling goes down to my foot. The pain radiates from mid thigh up to my buttocks and sometimes my hip hurts. I recently tried to start the C25K workout and was not able to progress beyond 90 seconds running. The pain became too intense. I used to run quite a bit and have always considered myself fairly active. I can walk with minimal discomfort. I am 55 years old, 5 ft 10 in tall and weigh about 180 lbs.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain and numbness in the leg . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like sciatica , but there can be other reasons also like neuropathy or vitamin B12 deficiency . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI or physical examination . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , vitamine supplement along with physical therapy and stretching exercises . For now do not do exercises , take complete rest and apply warm compresses to leg .
