Suggest Treatment For Ovarian Neoplasm.

My mother who is 63yrs old (post menopause) has been diagnosed with a neoplasm of 11.59*10.74*9.08cm.in the left ovary. CT scan report shows a heterogeneous mass in the Pelvis extending into POD abutting the posterior wall of the uterus with loss of intervening cleavage plane.the sigmoid colon is markedly compressed by the mass.peritoneal nodules are seen in right antero- lateral aspect of mid abdomen.mild fatty infiltration is noted in the hepatic and pancreatic parenchyma.no ascites in noted.

Liver, kidney,gall bladder ,spleen,Pancreas and ECG are normal.

I apologize for discussing such a sensitive matter in this way, but the results of the CT scan are extremely concerning for ovarian cancer. Peritoneal nodules may indicate local spread in the pelvis.

Your mother needs to consult ideally with a gynecologic oncologist, or a gynecologist who treats women with female cancers. She will need surgery to have her ovaries, uterus and any other diseased tissue removed, and chemotherapy after that. If there are not specialists in GYN oncology in your area, a consultation first with a regular gynecologist will be a good first step as they will be able to refer you to the proper doctor to get your mother treated as soon as possible.

I am sorry for the grave news, but getting your mother to the proper type of doctor to help her is the best next step. I hope you follow my advice and the doctor's evaluation reveals a good prognosis for her.
