my father 87 recently suffered nose bleeds. He is a recovering stroke victim just over 12 months. Last night whilost climbing stairs got a seriuos nose bleed taking an hour to stop and later some 3 hrs whilst relieving himself getting out of bed it started again losing a considerable amount of blood.What can i do
Hello, YOu should get his blood pressure checked . As he had a stroke there are more chances of it being a hypertension. If the nasal bleed continues then You should get him checked at the hospital and get blood pressure checked, and stop the anti platelet drugs like aspirin and clopidogrel if he his on then. and nasal packing can be done at the hospital. If at home you could skip the dose of aspirin or clopidogrel or warfarin. Apply ice over the nose bend forwards and breath through the mouth. In doubt do reply.
